Norway's most well dressed band is back !
After taking a break in 2004, The Real Thing is
reunited, with three old and one new member. The Real Thing started in
1992 and quickly became a dominant factor in Scandinavian jazz, with its
hard-swinging, organ-based soul jazz. In twelve years the band played
more than 1000 concerts and sold over 50000 CDs. The music was inspired
by American greats like Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, George Benson and Wes
Montgomery. The result was an extrovert blend of swing, blues, soul,
latin and funk. The band that "never leave the stage in dry smokings"
built up a solid fan base. Organist Palle Wagnberg, guitarist Staffan
William-Olsson, drummer Torstein Ellingsen (member 1995-98) and
saxophonist Dave Edge (originally from England), are looking forward to
lift 200 kg Hammond organ, and play both old and new repertoire! | ||
